Purpose and Scope

The Georgia Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. (GCISF) is a non-profit, limited membership foundation dedicated to the prevention and mitigation of disabling stress through the provision of: education, training, crisis response support services and coordination for at risk populations which include Emergency Services, Law Enforcement, Critical Healthcare professions and Schools systems. We will provide and promote consistent Crisis response training relevant to the needs Emergency Mental Health professionals, to include Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers and Licensed Professional Counselors, as well as lay persons, referred to as peer support providers, from each area of the at risk populous. GCISF will offer consult and direction in the establishment of comprehensive crisis response programs to organizations and communities throughout the State of Georgia. GCISF’s success will be measured by the sustained efforts of the local CISM Team each of which will actively pursue the concept that not one of these mentioned should ever face the harmful effects of critical incident stress without appropriately trained, well qualified assistance. We will accomplish through the adherence to an accepted and tested standardization of care known as Critical Incident Stress Management.

Georgia Critical Incident Stress Foundation consists of a wide variety of local CISM teams and individuals who are specifically trained in the field of Critical Incident Stress Management. One Source Employee Assistance Program is proud to be a member and a unit of the Mental Health response team.
